Hey Paul and thanks for weighing in! Just sorry with everything going on the week that you wrote that I'm just now remembering to get back to you. And that's all the more embarrassing since *YES!* it IS Knightsville, RI. I'd thought it looked more like the Airline especially since it never occurred to me that a double-header would be needed anywhere else. Any idea what the reason was here? I wonder if the steamer broke down. It'd also be cool to know the date. Again, apologies for the late reply. Hope you even see this! Merry Christmas!
The photo was taken about 3 miles west of Knightsville at Oaklawn. Oaklawn, in the City of Cranston, was about 7 miles west of Providence on the branch to Willimantic. The photo was taken by my dad Loris J. Bass in June 1947. Today's Vinton Avenue is at the top of the embankment on the left, and Oaklawn Ave is out of view to the right.
