Full Steam Ahead (part deux)

A better video than yesterday - well, at least it has a better start but as luck would have it, I ran out of "film" (full phone). But hopefully it's enjoyable just the same . . .

It's way too nice out today to spend the day in the basement, so we're off to "ride the rails" instead, in a sense. Heading over to Kingston, RI to ride our bikes on the old Narragansett Pier RR right of way.

Hope you have a great day too, whatever you have planned!

Full Steam Ahead!

Now that session is finally over and I'm (hopefully) done recuperating from the sleep-deprivation, I'm ready to get back into Full Train Mode!

I already ordered a new locomotive to commemorate another session survived (though I fear I may be getting a notice that it's sold out), and just this morning I ran down to the crossing to see the (new) Valley Local (passenger train) go by.

Heh - in what I hope isn't a metaphor for my future layout progress, I almost missed it(!)

Hope you're able to come along for the ride!

On the Valley Line Today (literally, this morning)

I've mentioned before that I come by my interest in the Valley Line honestly - I worked on the line as a steam locomotive fireman in the late '80s/early '90s and, after being away for almost 20 years, I'm back - not only firing, but I live only a stone's throw from the line.

Occasionally, the train makes it down to Old Saybrook.  When it does, it crosses right over my street.  This morning was just such an occasion - so I thought it'd be fun to get down to the crossing and get a video to share with you.

As you'll see, I'm a pretty lucky guy to have this almost literally in my backyard...
